Veterans and Solar

The Solar Industry: Veterans in the Workforce

Veterans are outstanding candidates for careers in the solar industry. They provide the technical skills and leadership skills that solar companies highly value. The skills they gain during their active-duty services make them more fitting for opportunities within the solar industry. The training they receive further allows them to deliver on their own and coordinate teams. One case in point is their worth during solar installation. Teamwork is needed to raise and mount the panels; they can coordinate that effectively as they already know how to lead a team.

Veterans Working in the Solar Industry

The solar industry is now taking advantage of the skills the vets have to offer. They are employing them more than before to fill key roles that have remained unoccupied before because of a lack of candidates with adequate technical skills and training.

Currently, 7.8% of the overall solar industry workforce is vets. That is proof the solar industry now understands how our vets can help advance renewable energy use.

Those who aren’t part of the workforce are equally contributing by adding solar power to their homes.  We believe more will follow in their footsteps and especially those already in the solar workforce.

Special Offer for Vets

Various solar companies continue to show their appreciation to our servicemen and women in various ways, including giving them special offers. At Go Solar Power, we have special pricing to help them install and save on solar. Our team is always ready to help them achieve that within a short period. Additionally, we have flexible financing options tailored to help anyone, including veterans who would love to switch to solar without breaking the bank.

Creating an Environment that Empowers Them

The solar industry is quite different from the life our vets are used to. For years, in their active duty, they have woken up to a routine that is best fitting to them. A life the rest of us have little knowledge and experience about.

Transitioning from active duty to civilian life for them may be challenging, but for us at Go Solar Power, we have mastered the art of welcoming them onboard. From interviewing to having them on our team, we are proud we make it seamless for any vet to join our team. We have a team that ensures they get the best assistance as possible during the onboarding process. Additionally, with the support of the right hiring agencies, we ensure we lead in having as many vets as possible.

According to a study by the SEIA and Solar Foundation, only 17% of the solar companies have put in place strategies to increase the number of veterans in their workforce. We are proud we are part of the 17% implementing these strategies.

Moving Forward, What to Expect

The solar industry is growing quickly, and to reap from this trend, you need workers with the skills to match the current demand. Military veterans don’t need additional training to deliver. They are up to the task and will contribute to your success in 2021 and beyond. Besides, solar followership and programs are making them more solar-ready.

Solar Ready Vets Programs and Fellowship

Solar programs further help our servicemen and women gain the practical skills needed to deliver in the solar industry by integrating them into solar. This, too, is giving them an edge when applying for jobs.

While we are okay to hire any veteran who shows interest in working for Go Solar Power, we prefer those who have received proper training in the practical skills needed to work in the solar industry. As such, we always encourage our servicemen and women to consider attending solar programs and fellowship. We guide vets who are interested in joining such programs even when not working with us. If you wish to enroll and know an interested vet, advise them to engage us.
