Florida Solar Power Easy FAQ

Florida Solar Power

How much do you know about Florida Solar Power?  Every day we speak to customers all over the Sunshine State.  There are so many questions about going Solar that the process can seem overwhelming.

The motto at Go Solar Power is “Going Solar is Simple”, we lay it all out for you.  This starts with our team of Energy Experts. They design solar power systems to maximize savings.   These are some of the questions our team gets most often.

Can a Florida Homeowner add solar to their home with $0 upfront out of pocket costs?

Answer: Yes:  simply swap your electric/utility payment for a solar loan for five, ten or 20 years with $0 out of pocket costs. Remember one day your loan will end. Can you say the same about your electric bill?

In Florida can the property appraiser assessor increase the assessed value of a home that adds Florida solar power?

Answer:  No.  The Florida legislature prevents the assessed value of a home to increase due to adding a solar system.

Can your Homeowners Association stop you from adding solar?

Answer:  No.  The Florida Solar Act will prevent an HOA from stopping a homeowner from getting solar.  The HOA also cannot cause the homeowner to pay additional costs because of the installation.

Are solar loans available that do not require an ongoing lien on our home?

Answer:  Yes. There are solar lenders that offer loan options up to $75,000. The collateral are the solar panels on the roof.  There is no lien on your home. There is also no prepayment penalty.  You have the option to fully transfer the system to a new homeowner.

Can a solar system operate after a hurricane when the electric grid is down?

Answer:  Yes and No.  The solar system needs to have a battery backup solution.  A battery like the Tesla Powerwall will stay running even when the grid goes down.  Without a battery backup, the solar system will not turn on until the grid reactivates.
